A couple of us here at Spectrum Security took part in the Wokingham Bikeathon this weekend, along with Chris Lunn, MD of our marketing agency, Digity. We’re happy to report that we completed the bikeathon and we’re all mostly still intact - in fact, our group was the 8th fastest out of the 43 that recorded the event through Strava!
First held in 2008 with only 143 riders, the Wokingham Bikeathon is run by volunteers and supported by local businesses and charities, enabling it to go from strength to strength every single year. In fact, recent years have seen almost a thousand people partaking in the event. The Bikeathon was originally created to encourage people to get out and about on their bikes to visit more of Wokingham, but it has since evolved to become a successful way for people to raise money for a chosen charity.
Riders have in fact risen money for MacMillan, Bloodwise and the Ollie Young Foundation to name a few. It was great to get a chance to partake this year and we’d recommend it (you can even choose between a 15 or a 35 mile route!) as a great family day out as well.
