The Show Must Go On: Our Recent Covid-Safe Projects
It has been our priority this year to ensure we can still offer clients our full range of services, and we have managed to achieve just that. Recently, we completed some Covid-safe projects in a couple of film studios and care homes, designing and installing fire detection & alarm systems and access control systems in fast timescales to suit the needs of our clients.
It is important to us right now that everyone can feel as comfortable as normal when we complete work on their premises. We have introduced strict Covid procedures which have been implemented by each and every member of our staff, ensuring that we can still continue our work as usual whilst keeping our clients and ourselves safe. Indeed, a lot of the work we are doing right now is actually helping our clients to be even safer by reducing the spread of infection, especially in workplaces and care homes. Access control systems, temperature screening systems and remote guarding systems, as well as the usual fire safety and security equipment; we’ve been doing it all. Here are some examples of our recent work:
Care Home Projects
We completed some work for two care homes in Sussex, who needed to replace their existing fire alarm systems
which were non-compliant with the latest standards. Both of them were occupied, so they required fast timescales with minimum disruption, which was a challenge in the large old houses. However, we managed to meet the clients’ requirements by selecting a wireless fire alarm system, which requires minimal cabling and therefore provides a quicker installation. This brand-new fire detection and alarm system was compliant with BS5839-1:2017 Category L2, so they were now up to the latest standards and in possession of an extremely reliable system. Our engineers were fully briefed on procedures before starting work and the necessary PPE was provided. They maintained strict COVID-safe procedures throughout the works.
Film Studios
We have also gotten a taste of ‘showbiz’ recently, having installed access control systems
in two TV studios. This was aimed to help them to remain COVID-secure by keeping the production team in their separate work "bubbles". One of the systems we installed utilises both proximity cards and smartphone credentials, and both systems operate fully over IP throughout large sites, over VLANs created by the client's IT support team. One site has linked their on-site (COVID) temperature testing to the access control system database, via an API, preventing any personnel with high temperatures from gaining access to the site. Due to filming schedules, they needed the work done extremely quickly. To meet this requirement, we managed to condense the programmes from a six-week project to a four-week project, so they could get back to work safely and on-time.
